Aeris Körper is currently seeking to expand inclusiveness and diversity of board members in order to reflect the community we serve. 

Who is Aeris Körper?

Aeris Körper is a Hamilton based not-for-profit dance company founded in 2014. We bring people into their bodies through movement, awareness of sensations and connection to self and others with the aim of fostering resilience, understanding and empathy. We do this through creation, presentation, and facilitation of dance that explores, questions, reflects and reveals connections across race, gender, sexuality, age, identity, ability and experience. 

We operate with an advisory board, consisting of four-six members at any time. 

What does the board do?

Members of the Board of Directors of Aeris Körper monitor the company’s organizational performance and support delivery of the organization’s goals, programs and strategic plan.

What am I committing to?

  • Participation as an ambassador for Aeris Körper across the communities we seek to engage

  • Attendance at scheduled board meetings every four (4) months, which includes thirty (30) minutes of previewing prepared documents/reports and ninety (90) minutes meeting attendance. Meetings are usually on a weekday evening after 5pm and occur quarterly (February, April, June and November). 

  • A 2-year (one term) commitment to board participation

  • Occasional ad-hoc committee work and/or to represent the company at community events and performances 

How do I know if I’m a good fit?

  • Passionate and excited about the Hamilton dance community

  • A confident communicator; I enjoy dialogue and/or communications 

  • Knowledgeable about diversity, inclusion and accessibility practices

  • Experienced with committee/board participation

  • Informed about board governance (chair) and fiscal responsibility (treasurer)

  • Passionate about attending Aeris Körper performances. I would be happy to receive two complimentary tickets to all Aeris Körper self-produced shows.

What board positions are currently available?

Chair - Ensuring the actions taken are in line with the organization's strategic plan, goals, and mission. Serving as a primary point of contact for the organization's key staff members. Accountable for organizational structure. Motivating other members to actively participate in and attend meetings. In addition to the four member quarterly meetings there will be an additional four preparation meetings. 

Treasurer - Works with the Artistic Directors to ensure financials are up to date and in order. In addition to the four member quarterly meetings there will be an additional four preparation meetings.

To apply, please send an email to Sid by July 7th, 2023 as an expression of interest with information about yourself and your experience. The second step will include an interview with the ad hoc selection committee. 

Emails will be reviewed by Sid, all applicants will receive a response. Selected board members will be welcomed by the board at our meeting on August 24th, 2023 7:00-8:30 pm.
